A true Midwestern gem in the rough as far as resorts go. Located just to the Southwest of Milwaukee, Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, IL boasts one of the best terrain parks. Dubbed The Farside, its designed and maintained by snowboarders for snowboarders. Every season they throw a pretty raucous competition called The Big Nut Open.
This year’s event will be going down Saturday, February 25th and if its anything like past events it should surely be on your list of shred engagements. This event is open to all ages and will feature both a slopestyle and rail competition with an open class and age bracket in each discipline. For $15 you can compete in either event or for $20 get gnar in both. They also have very reasonable, top notch accommodations for those of you considering making a weekend out of it.
